Welcome to NAUM!

A supportive environment that turns believing into community

Native American Urban Ministry is a community of urban Native Americans who believe in their own culture, spirituality and God. We welcome all to our worship gatherings and events! We are an all Native led worshipping community that was started in 2012. We are a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. NAUM meets at Grace Lutheran Church 1124 N. 3rd St. in downtown Phoenix.

Worship Services

We gather on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month to celebrate the Creator, share a meal and be in fellowship with other urban Natives. Worship is at 11am, coffee hour is before and lunch is always served after. We meet at Grace Lutheran Church, 1124 N. 3rd St. in Phoenix.

Cheryl’s Closet

NAUM stocks a closet of clothing, shoes, toiletries, blankets, housewares, towels and sheets for those in need. We call it Cheryl’s Closet after a dear volunteer, Cheryl Shula, who has since journeyed on, but loved taking care of the items in this room.

L.O.V.E. Group

NAUM offers at no charge, Leadership Development classes to the community weekly on Wednesday mornings at 10am. Topics include self esteem, career development, healthy eating and addiction support. The group is intergenerational. Lunch is served after.

Talking Circle

Started in August of 2024, the Talking Circle was offered weekly in the evenings and open to all who want a cultural way to communicate with the Creator. Refreshments are served during the event and it’s open to anyone. Talking Circle is now every Monday evening at 6pm.
